Sweet taste of victory : Johnston bests No. 2 by more than 11 pounds at Stren Texas event, claims long-awaited winBy Jennifer Simmons - 10.Feb.2007

JASPER, Texas – “When it’s your time, it’s your time.” Those were the wise words of Stephen Johnston, who finally earned the Stren Series victory he’s been hunting for so long, and he did it close to home at the Texas Division event on Sam Rayburn Reservoir with an astonishing four-day weight of 70 pounds, 2 ounces.

Johnston reported fishing a Sebile crankbait early and then moving on to a Texas-rigged lizard.“I was fishing a Sebile Flat Shad, and with the water falling, the fish quit chasing,” he said. “I took a Texas-rigged lizard and slow-fished the bushes and was able to catch them.”

by Ed Snyder / Ed Snyder Outdoors

" When Pro/Boater, Andy Gaia, of Tomball, TX, walked up to the Wal-Mart BFL tournament weigh-in stage with his 5 bass limit on Saturday, January 27, all eyes focused on the weigh-master as he announced, “five bass, ALL ALIVE, 26 -lbs, 7- ozs. The attending crowd applauded with cheers as Gaia’s incredible catch earned him $4,471 for his first place pro/boater win. But the “hurrahs” weren’t over yet as Andy’s co/angler, Michael Edmiston of Katy, TX, walked up to put his 5 bass/20-lb, 9-oz catch on the scale to claim the first place co/angler win for a $2,631 payday. Their 10 bass catch totaled an amazing 46.12 lbs for the teamed draw tournament anglers, earning them $7,102 for their day of competitive bass fishing.

Gaia and Edmiston were fishing a Sebile, a uniquely designed hard plastic crank-bait developed in France and introduced to the American bass fishing scene in 2006. A few of these French lures were loaned to Andy Gaia for testing the competitive waters of BFL’s Cowboy Div; tournament on Lake Sam Rayburn. And the results were tremendous, producing a 10 bass weight of 46.12 lbs for Andy Gaia and Michael Edmiston that simply amazed an astonished the attending public. Sebile not only proved its value as a competitive tool for tournament anglers, but also promises to become one of the HOTTEST lures for the 2007 sport fishing season!
